Midnight's Kiss by Donna Grant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
*Spoilers for previous books*
In the previous books, the villains (Dierdre and Declan) have been vanquished and all is peaceful. Or is it? Saffron and Camdyn have had a baby girl. All (or lat least most) of the coupled up couples want to start having families; is it really safe to do so? At present what is stopping them is the desire to bind their gods and have a "normal" life. The spell is missing and they have been trying to locate it.
Ronnie (Veronica) is an archaeologist and a Druid. Ronnie knows she has an ability, but doesn't know she is a Druid. She has always been "lucky" in her digs and has a good following with people willing to donate money as a result. Arran is tasked with volunteering at Ronnie's current dig in the hope they can find the spell.
This did take a little bit of time for me to get into. There are new story-lines introduced in this one. Lots of action in this one. There is a new Big Bad (and yes, I was right about Jason!) and an unknown supernatural entity that gets released (the Selmyr). The MacLeod Castle Warriors and Druids have a new bad to fight (and possibly more with the Selmyr).
It would be nice if they (those at the castle) would study the drough blood and see if they can determine what is in it that harms them. Especially since it was commented, the effects are worse. If they knew more, they would have a higher chance of coming up with something that would negate or diminish its effects. Just sayin.
