Review: A Fool For You

A Fool For You A Fool For You by Katee Robert
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Hope and Daniel has a history. They were high school sweethearts that didn't survive a car accident that killed Hope's brother and severely injured Hope. Daniel was driving and blamed himself and decided to remove himself from Hope's life. He was not there/present while she recovered. Fast forward 13 years later and Hope is back in town to set up a scholarship in her brother's (John) name.
This isn't a spoiler since it's in the book synopsis, but Hope ends up pregnant. I expected to like this more. I really didn't like Daniel. In the previous 2 books, I thought he was a sympathetic character; grieving the loss of a best friend and girlfriend. But then, you realize the loss of the girlfriend is by choice- his. I thought he turned into an Alpha-hole; dictating to Hope where she could live, what she should do etc. Very much "you've pregant and it's my child so here is how things are gonna work." Hope's job, dreams, life? They don't matter anymore!
Even once they got back together, he blew a little hot and cold. Their reconciliation was too fast and not enough grovel after his behavior IMO. Hope's parents hit the nail on the head.
I decided this fit a category for Ripped Bodice Summer Bingo after all: I'm using this for Wardrobe Malfunction (the condom broke and since a condom is something that is worn/put on, I argue this fits this category).

Review: Some Enchanted Éclair

Some Enchanted Éclair Some Enchanted Éclair by Bailey Cates
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5*
Nice mystery that took place on a movie set. Katie has the grudging acceptance one of the detectives, he knows Katie has talent, but has no idea what it is. I'm not sure how to feel about Declan and his formerly hidden ability. He doesn't want any part of it, so we will see.
(view spoiler)
I am using this for Ripped Bodice Bingo Protagonist smells like freshly bakes bread square.
