Review: Love in the Library

Love in the Library Love in the Library by Maggie Tokuda-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book came to my attention after reading a thread on Twitter. I decided to buy the book to support the author. I also live in Idaho and Minidoka is about an hour 1/2 away from me.
For those that aren't aware, FDR signed Executive Order 9066 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor which forced people of Japanese ancestry into concentration camps (I mean "relocation" camps). In all, 120,000 were forced from their homes to live elsewhere. Most of the camps (there were 10 total) were on the West Coast with the one furthest east located in Arkansas.
Back to the book: This is a sweet love story about 2 people in extraordinary circumstances who meet and fall in love (in a library). The illustrations are beautifully done as well.

Here is a good summary from NPR about how Scholastic wanted the author to censor part of her book.
