Review: Studmuffin Santa

Studmuffin Santa Studmuffin Santa by Tawna Fenske
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jade and her sister Amber are co-owners of a Reindeer Ranch. Jade takes care of the reindeer and Amber handles the business side. Christmas is a time that they really need to make their mark and get their name out there. Small things are also happening around the ranch (think gates being opened, paperwork going missing, dead car batteries, etc). So, Amber hires Brandon to be both Santa and to keep an eye out for things. Brandon is in the military and is taking a military leave to spend time with his dad and help his cousins renovate their planned resort.
This was nicely paced. I liked both the main leads and Jade's sister Amber. Both have things that they are dealing with in the past (Jade was bullied for how she looked in school and Brandon's mother left and his dad had a major stroke). They do a good job communicating back and forth.
The only thing that could have been better was the acts of sabotage. It's mentioned, but then not really dealt with until (surprise!) the person is caught.
Amber and Sean (Brandon's cousin) are next!

Review: This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work

This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work by Tiffany Jewell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is geared towards the younger crowd (10-ish and up), but was very accessible and well laid out. Ideas and facts are presented in context and this is a history lesson too. I thought the illustrations added to the narrative as well.

Review: Fall Dark

Fall Dark Fall Dark by Zoe York
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Vince and Larken dated at 19 before splitting up to focus on their military careers. They meet again 12 years later (should be 31 now) working for the same agency that provides some type of security. I admit I really didn't get into this one. I thought both leads acted younger. Larken especially had moments where I thought she might have been a toddler. Vince has Alpha-hole moments (not unexpected). Couldn't get on board with romance and luckily, this was short.
