This was a nice short story. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it flowed, considering the length. Both Jack and Neomi are likable.

Review:

So this sounded interesting. But, it was just weird, and not in a good way. In the future, it's all corp owned. There's the very popular "the Grid" (virtual reality) and the (boring) "Real." There's AI, different robotics, and "carbon-based" (that would be humanity). The rich don't need to die and can live forever by having their consciousness uploaded to the Grid. 
This just didn't work for me. I wasn't invested in the story. I could have cared less about Talia and Kovner. Maybe I would have liked it a little more if there was less tech. (Or been less moody).

The Goblin King

Review:

After reading the novella, which I really enjoyed, I was really looking forward to this one. I was a little disappointed in this one. I enjoyed that it was different- a goblin as the romantic lead. Roan was a decent hero. I did think he was too mopey (for lack of a better word) at times. 
I was disappointed in Eliza. She was very meek and passive. Yes, Steve was an asshole and I'm glad he got what was coming. But, Eliza gave him too much power for too long. I wanted Eliza to grow a pair and take charge. By the end of the book Eliza was a little better, but only a little. I just wanted more.

The Little Book of Feminist Saints

Review:

This is a fantastic book for anyone who wants to learn about some of history's fabulous women. The timing of this is perfect for Women's History Month. The only think "wrong" with this is there were so many great women to pick from. How do you narrow it down? 
There are some absences in this one. However, that is countered with women who the average person has heard of (Yayoi Kusama, Forugh Farrrokhzad, Maria Montessori, and The Mirabal Sisters anyone?). Then, of course, the NAMES (Oprah, Hillary Clinton, Malala Yousafzai ) that everyone has (*should*) have heard of.
I liked the portrait and the little details about each women. I think back at history and mourn what has been lost to time (deliberate actions and accidental), Sappho's poetry or Hypatia's writings.
This is an excellent starter for someone with an interest in learning something new that they otherwise would have never known. This is appropriate for kids and adults.

Sharpshooter

Review:

Gunner and Sydney's story picks up right where the last book left off. Sydney is the lone woman in this alpha group of guys. She is strong and capable. Gunner is a good hero; however, I thought he took the whole "I'm not good enough" too far. That's for Sydney to decide, right?!
This is a strong 3 for me because I liked both characters and the story flowed and kept me engaged. And for why I didn't rate this a 4, it's because it's too transparent who the "big bad" is. I also didn't like how two (presumably) intelligent adults had sex without any talk of protection and then were shocked (SHOCKED!) when something happened.

Deadly Pursuit

Review:

This picks up where Break Out left off. I liked that the crew was there and they all played significant parts to the story. Jon and Alex were central to the story, but the interplay between all the characters are what I liked most in this book and in the previous book. They have all become a family, they go to bat for each other. Interesting development with Meridian. Callum is an intriguing character whose story is next, with Tannis's.

Bossypants

Review:

OMG, I love Tina Fey! I got the audio (courtesy of my public library), so I had something to listen to on my way in to work. I took the long way home so I could finish it! 
I enjoyed hearing about her growing up, writing for SNL and being on SNL, 30 Rock, etc. There wasn't anything that I didn't like. I've got the paperback too, a keeper! 
I do recommend the audio; TF narrates it and there is a certain sketch she did in 2008 that I adored.
