Angel in Chains

Review:

After the last book, I really was looking forward to Az's story. Was disappointed in this one. In the first book of the series, Az is the angel in charge, with power and in the second he fell and was confused (confusion happens when an angel falls). In this one, with his memory restored, he is pissed and all about what he can do to get his wings back. 
Brandt was the typical alpha-hole of many a paranormal; except in this one he wasn't the "hero," but the villain (and he's is considerably more violent. I was mainly referring to the "it doesn't matter what you want, you're MINE!" phenomena of some other paranormal books). Don't worry, he gets what's coming to him. At first, Az and Jade's relationship is about using the other. It develops into something more.
I can't put my finger on what my issue was with this book, except I just wasn't feeling it. I did enjoy the first 2 books. Something that came out of this one: maybe falling isn't a punishment, but a new opportunity.

It's in His Kiss

Review:

Another good Lucky Harbor book! This one was one of the better ones. Both Becca and Sam are flawed, but likable. One thing that I really liked was, their weakness were strengths of the other, so they complimented each other very nicely. Both were better individuals by the end. 
I am curious about Olivia. I love Lucille!

Saving Hearts

Review:

I enjoyed the first couple of books (Crossing Hearts and Defending Hearts). This one was a disappointment. Brendan and Erin had a one night stand several months ago. They cross paths again, at a Gamblers Anonymous meeting. Both are gamblers.
I enjoy flawed characters, if they are likable and if what they do is redeemable. I didn't like Erin's actions. I felt what she did made her untrustworthy and very unforgivable. She was in a position of power and abused that power. The end goal didn't justify what she did. 
Brendan was likable and I could sympathize with him. His motivations were understandable.

Touch of the Demon

Review:

This picks up right where the cliffhanger that was book 4 (Sins of the Demon) left off. Kara has been summoned to the demon realm by Mzatal. She's unbalanced and needs to figure things out quickly.
I had a harder time with this one than I thought I would. What I enjoyed about the previous 4 books was the paranormal police procedural. And Jill, Tessa, Eilahn, Zack, and Ryan. That is not this book, at all. Kara's friends make an appearance at the end. 
The first half of the world is definitely more world building, demon realm 101. It was both dry and interesting, but I found my attention drifting and would put the book down to read later. It picked up about the halfway through. Answers abound in this one. Kara does some stupid things (and I was disappointed, but oh well). Overall, this lacked the enjoyment for me. Enough so that I may or not may read the next. I haven't decided.

Magic Steals

Review:

This was a nice story about Dali and Jim. Jim got to see more of what Dali can do. This was good, but Dali's lack of confidence, while I understood it (to a point), got annoying. Talk! I liked their interactions. I also like the dynamic with Dali's family too.

Do You Want to Start a Scandal

Review:

What a delightful book! I FINALLY got Charlotte Highwood's story and thankfully it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the (brief) appearances of Diana and Aaron and Minerva and Colin. Charlotte was an awesome heroine. She's inquisitive, intelligent, and good at reading people. Piers was the perfect person for her. Even though she says it first, I really liked that Piers was the first to "fall." The "mystery" was refreshing, and funny. 
The only thing I didn't like: Charlotte is a slob, I didn't quite understand how someone could be so very messy.

My Horizontal Life

Review:

I do like Chelsea Handler. I think she's funny. This had is moments. Laugh out loud hilarious moments. Then there were the moments I thought to myself, how shallow is she? I appreciated how open she is, but at the same time, I thought she was very judgmental at others times too. Was disappointed that this audiobook is NOT narrated by the author.
